Post-Construction Cleaning Handoff Checklist

The old site covered post-construction cleaning. This version focuses on the handoff decisions that determine whether a final clean stays final.

What goes into the plan

Make the work specific.

Every building and project has its own limits. These are the details we review before putting a price in writing.

Before cleaning

Trades complete

Confirm paint, flooring, fixtures, and major punch-list work are finished in the areas to be cleaned.

Access

Power, water, and entry

Agree when the crew can enter and which utilities and elevators are available.

Scope

Debris versus detail

Separate contractor debris removal from dusting, surface cleaning, fixture detail, and floor work.

After cleaning

Touch-up ownership

If another trade returns, define who requests and approves an additional cleaning visit.

Before the proposal

Four items to put in the handoff email

This guide does not promise removal of hazardous material or specialty restoration; those conditions require separate assessment.

  1. A floor plan or room list showing ready and unfinished areas.
  2. The final trade schedule and the intended inspection or occupancy date.
  3. A list of residual labels, adhesives, paint marks, and any special surfaces.
  4. One contact authorized to approve scope changes and sign off.
Your building, your scope
